The biggest rock band in the world once again lend their music to a great new ad called “United” for the upcoming World Cup in South Afirca. This is not ESPN and the Irish band first collaboration, as they created a promo for FIFA’s 2006 World Cup. A great sequel, Bono once again provides an inspirational performance that only Bono can deliver. Even though the football images are used sparingly, when they do appear it is well worth it as they powerfully demonstrate how soccer transcends the world’s problems and unites us all for the 30 glorious days. Bono’s poetic words are backed by U2’s track “Magnificant” from their 2009 CD No Line on the Horizon. I remember when I first heard this song I thought it was one of their best intro’s since “Where the Streets Have No Name”. But then again U2 can use any of their tunes and it would make for a great soundtrack.
